A resident of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina for over 10 years, Roxann has been fortunate enough to have lived and painted in some of the most beautiful places in the world. She grew up in the San Francisco Bay area and studied Graphic and Fine Art there. The lure of the computer age found her "temporarily" leaving art behind while she worked as a
computer analyst and application software instructor. She married a Naval Officer and followed as his career took them to Naples , Italy for 6 years. The beauty of Italy reawakened her creative spirit and she began her fine art studies and painting again. She had great successful painting people in costume against Venice's gorgeous architecture during Carnivale. All in watercolor, her entire series
covering 6 years of pure artistic inspiration are now in private collections around the world.
Her husband's last duty station took them to Charleston, SC before her husband retired from the Navy. They couldn't have been happier. Charleston is a perfect place to live as an artist with Charleston vying for the number 1 position as America's top artist's location (along with Santa Fe, New Mexico). They love Charleston so much they now call it their
permanent home. Over the past 11 years, Roxann has been exhibiting in galleries in both Charleston and Mt. Pleasant and now Beaufort, SC. She has a working studio in her home as well. She is also a dedicated children book writer and illustrator and is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.
Roxann calls her style of painting "realistic impressionism". Because she lives in the Lowcountry, her focus is on the beautiful landscapes and wildlife that surround her. She paints in both oil and watercolor and is a portrait artist as well. She also teaches water color and oil classes in Mt. Pleasant. Her latest series in oil are of Palmetto tree fronds that thrive in South Carolina, exploring many different styles and expressions of these beautiful trees
-- mostly inspired from her own tidal marsh backyard!
